In Hong Kong, the response is divided. The Chinese elites who have been educated abroad can laugh at the jokes because they know where it’s coming from even if it’s not their world in Asia. I enjoyed the movie and found it entertaining as long as I contained it as a purely Asian American story, and suspended judgement about its accuracy of perspectives in Asia.
